Mildred Winfrey Hale was born October 16, 1925 in Russell County, Kentucky. She went to her heavenly home July 26, 2017.
She was the daughter of the late Charlie Ray and Chena Carnes Winfrey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arles V. Hale on September 9, 2015 also, by her brother, Dr. Joe D. Winfrey.
Mildred served 42 years in the Russell County School System prior to retiring in 1989. She received her education from Lindsey Wilson College, Eastern State College and completed her masters degree at the University of Kentucky.
She began her teaching career at Pleasant Point one room school. She taught second grade at Russell Springs Elementary for 11 years. In 1959, she became Supervisor of Instruction at the central office of Russell County Board of Education.
She was a faithful member of the Russell Springs Christian Church where she had served as Sunday school teacher and with a voice for singing, gave her talent to the choir.
Mildred is survived by nieces and nephews, Dr. Jeff Winfrey, Dawson Springs, Kentucky. Jenny Winfrey, Dawson Springs, Kentucky, Jon Winfrey, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Donnie Hale, Russell Springs, Kentucky, Cheryl Whitlock, Campbellsville, Kentucky and Janna Smith, Russellville, Arkansas.
She is also survived by 3 sisters in law, Faye Winfrey, Dawson Springs, Kentucky, Betty Hale, Russell Springs, Kentucky and Fostene Rexroat, Campbellsville, Kentucky.
Visitation will be Friday July 28, 2017 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 391 East Steve
Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday July 29, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 391 East Steve
Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, Kentucky with Bro. Jeff Winfrey & Bro. Carroll Egnew officiating.
Interment will be in the Hale Cemetery, Hale Cemetery Road, Russell Springs, Kentucky.
