Obituary for Barbara Powell

Barbara Powell, age 68, of Jamestown, KY passed away Sunday, July 05 2026 at T.J. Health Care in Columbia, KY.

She was born on Saturday, July 27 1957, in Jamestown, Ky to James Woodrow Hadley and Mae Grant Hadley, who precede her in death.
She is also preceded in death by her husband Donnie Ray Powell, whom she married November 24, 1972.

Barbara, or “Barb” to those close to her, was a loving wife, mother, mother in law, and grandmother, and was kind to everyone she met.  She was a homemaker and made every day magical for her grandchildren with her fun, playful spirit and creativity. She loved to garden, and spent as much time as she could outside tending to her flower beds. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren, who love her dearly.
Barbara is survived by a Son, Chris Powell, spouse Erin, of Crocus KY, and two grandchildren, John “Jack” and Jemma Grace Powell, also of Crocus.  Other survivors include:

1 Sister: Sharon Kelly, spouse Ted, of Jamestown KY

And 3 Brothers: James Gary Hadley, spouse Susan, of Jamestown KY, Ernest Darrell Hadley, spouse Patsy, of Jamestown KY, and David Hadley, spouse Melody, of Jamestown KY.

Barbara is also survived by 2 sisters-in law, Sherry Lynn Powell and Laverne (Dwan) Powell Hadley,  and a brother-in-law Calvin (Debbie) Powell.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, July 10 2026 at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY.

Visitation will be 9 AM Friday, July 10 2026 at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY.
