Donnie Ray Powell

Donnie Ray Powell, 72, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, December 8 th , 2024, at home and surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 28 th 1952 to parents Bennie and Nadine (Ballenger) Powell, who precede him in death. Donnie was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Powell and Bennie Powell Jr. Donnie married his wife Barbara in 1972, and together they shared one son, Chris. Donnie retired from the Lake Cumberland State Park where he worked for many years as a licensed Sewer Treatment Plant Operator. Before that many knew him when he owned and operated the Country Store at the Hwy 55 & Hale’s Hwy intersection. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Barbara Susan (Hadley) Powell; one son, Chris (Erin) Powell, and his two grandchildren whom he adored, John and Jemma Grace Powell; Two sisters, Laverne (Dwan) Hadley and Sherry Powell; a brother, Calvin (Debbie) Powell, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation for Donnie Ray Powell will take place at the Mt. Zion Community Church from 2-4pm on Friday, December 13th. Service will begin at 4pm with Bro. Dwan Hadley officiating.
