Mary Louise Whittle

Mary Louise Whittle, age 79, a longtime resident of Russell County, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Somerset.

She was born on November 8, 1946 the daughter of the late Vertrese and Marcia McFarland Roy.

She held various titles, but her greatest was being a loving wife to Paul for 61 years, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Floyd Switch Baptist Church in Science Hill.

She is survived by:

Paul Todd (Denise) Whittle, of Jamestown, Kentucky

Leah Michelle (Timmy) DeSpain, of Greensburg, Kentucky

Tina Louise (Glen) Jawaski, of Science Hill, Kentucky

Lynn Renee Walters, of Jamestown, Kentucky

She is survived by 11 grandchildren, Lucas and Megan Whittle, Dakota Smith, Bethanne DeSpain,  Katie (Luke) Parrish, Bailey (Alex) Grodi, Emily Grippe, Jacob Grippe, Peyton (Joe) Grider, Danielle (Gabe) Martin, and Benjamin (Meleah) Walters and seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Danny Roy, of Windsor, Kentucky

Larry A. Roy, of Russell Springs, KY

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann Whittle and two brothers, Dwight Roy and Junior V. Roy and a grandson, William Thomas DeSpain II.

Funeral services will be 11 AM on Saturday May 2, 2026  in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Dr. Russell Springs, KY with interment in the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Wilson Funeral Home in Russell Springs.

Officiating clergy: Bro. Jeff Griffin – Pallbearers are: Lucas Whittle, Dakota Smith, Benjamin Walters, Jacob Grippe, Luke Parrish, Joe Grider and Gabe Martin.

Wilson Funeral Home in Russell Springs is in charge of arrangements.
