Mr. Stanley Ray Goad, age 77, of Taylorsville, KY returned to his Heavenly Father on May 7, 2026. He was born on November 6th, 1948 in Monroe County, KY to the late Lawrence and Avis Pearl (Smith) Goad. He was saved at Lone Hill United Baptist Church at the early age of 8 and felt peace when he received salvation. His family left Lone Hill when Stanley was around 13 years old and the family moved their membership to Fairdale United Baptist Church where he remained a member until his passing.
He worked at Delmonico Foods for the majority of his working career. He worked in the evenings and weekends repairing lawn mowers. Later he enjoyed traveling as a professional mover. When he was not working, he enjoyed raising his children and boasting about their achievements. He loved to bowl, fish, garden and camp. One of his favorite places to fish was in the Green River. He loved to compete with his father to see who could catch the largest quantity of fish or the heaviest fish. His children loved going out on the boat and learning how to fish with him also. He often went beyond what was required at Christmas to make sure it was fun for everyone. He was an avid U of L fan and often it became a rivalry between his children that were UK fans and him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruthie Keeling.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Kimberly Kay Goad Sanders (Steve), James “Jamie” Lawrence Goad (Kim), Donnie O’Connor, Kelly Ray Goad and Sandy Marie Goad (fiancé James). He also has one grandchild Kayla Renee’ Goad. His siblings, Neva Elwell, Joe Leonard Goad, Cheryl Ann Miller, Jeanetta Lynn Childress, Marsha Kay Burgan, Christy Jewell Spurlock (Chip); and a host of nieces’ nephews, great nieces and great nephews of loving family and friends. He remained good friends with the mothers of his children, Sybil Keltner and Cherry Taylor.
His children are planning a Celebration of Life at The Big Oak Picnic Shelter, on Green River Lake on May 24th, 2026 at 2:00 EST.
We’re planning a pot luck meal, so if you would to like bring a dish, great, but it is certainly not required. All are welcome.
