Zelva was born in Russell Springs, Kentucky on February 24, 1920, a daughter of the late Clora (Miller) and Clarence L. McKinley.

She was the oldest living member of Coffey's Chapel United Methodist Church and a Homemaker.

Zelva is also survived by: two sisters, Helen Cooper, of Jamestown, Ky; Etha Jane Walters, of Dahlgren, VA; a brother, Gwendolf McKinley, of Winter Park, FL.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sibblings: Bascum McKinley, Paul Rolff McKinley, Ernest McKinley, Faldean McKinley
